Welcome to Missions Week!

Not too long after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, he gathered with his disciples and commanded them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).

This is why we are so passionate about missions at Glory of Christ! We simply want to obey our Lord and be part of God’s global purpose to win for himself, through the preaching of the gospel, worshipers from every tribe, language, people, and nation (John 4:24, 1 Cor. 1:21, Rev. 5:9).

Currently we are supporting two missionaries, Jan Korbel, who is serving in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dave and Mary Decker, who are serving in Dakar, Senegal, but who minister in four countries: Senegal, Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Guinea. Our dream is to some day support 200 or more missionaries who serve on every continent, and to regularly mobilize our people for short- and mid-term missions trips.

Thus, we, the elders of Glory of Christ, call you to a week of concerted prayer, fasting, and study for the purposes of God among the nations. On Wednesday evening there will be a potluck and prayer service here at the Handke Center (5:30-7:30 p.m.), and next Sunday we will again be emphasizing missions in the service.

During the week, we suggest that you spend some time perusing the websites of organizations like The Joshua Project, the U.S. Center for World Missions, and the International Missions Board. And pray with us that God will open our eyes, impassion our hearts, and strengthen our resolve to lay down our lives for the glory of Christ among the nations of the world.

Praying with you for that great and final harvest,
Pastor Charlie

Lamp & Light Verse

Philippians 2:5-7 (ESV)
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,?who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
