Seven Ways to be Involved in the Global Purposes of God

  1. Grow in your knowledge of the theology of missions by reading the Bible, by reading books like Let the Nations be Glad (John Piper) and Operation World (Patrick Johnstone & Jason Mandryk), and by taking courses like the Perspectives Course (now available on-line).
  2. Grow in your knowledge of the state of the gospel in the world by regularly perusing websites like www.joshuaproject.net, www.uscwm.org (U.S. Center for World Missions), www.imb.org (the Southern Baptist International Missions Board), and www.persecution.com (Voice of the Martyrs). Resolve to obey verses like Hebrews 13:3, “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.”
  3. Resolve to invest some time every week praying for the spread of the gospel among the nations of the world. Consider using the Global Prayer Digest as a guide (www.global-prayer-digest.org).
  4. Consider supporting a Christian missionary or ministry organization somewhere in the world, for as Jesus himself said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
  5. Consider volunteering to help Glory of Christ envision and develop our missionary care program and our missions training program.
  6. Consider going on a short-term missions trip sometime in the next eighteen months. If you are interested in this, please contact Pastor Charlie as soon as possible so that he can work with you to determine when, where, and how long you want to go.
  7. Consider offering your life to God as a career missionary, for “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (Romans 10:14-15)

Lamp & Light Verse

Philippians 2:5-7 (ESV)
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,?who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
