A Summary of the Men’s Ministry

January 2007

God has ordained that men be leaders in family, church, work, and world. Therefore, if the men of the church rise up and lead, the church will rise up—if they do not rise up and lead, the church will not rise up.

Therefore, the purpose of the men’s ministry is to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples, through Jesus Christ,
  1. by discipling men in large-group, small-group, and one-on-one settings,
  2. by equipping men to lead in their families, church, work, and world,
  3. by engaging in a variety of ministry activities together, and,
  4. by participating in social outings such as hunting or sports.

Strategy for the Ministry:

  1. Hold a monthly plenary session to which we invite all men, and to which we require all leaders to come;
  2. Train men, through a discipleship process, to disciple other men, who in turn disciple other men;
  3. Create strategic opportunities for men to serve Christ, his church, the lost and the least of these together that they may be more united to Christ, more united with one another, more skilled in ministry, and more passionate about the mission of the gospel;
  4. Create strategic social gatherings for men for the same reasons as above.

Objectives for this Year:

  1. Develop a plan for the monthly plenary session to include the order of service and a preliminary teaching plan;
  2. Launch the plenary session on March 4, 2007;
  3. Develop lesson plans for one-on-one discipleship times;
  4. Disciple at least seven men who can disciple up to three other men each by October 7, 2007;
  5. Work with Kevin Feder to develop three to five specific ministry opportunities for men and their sons;
  6. Work with Kevin Feder to develop three to five specific sporting opportunities for men and their sons.

Lamp & Light Verse

Philippians 2:5-7 (ESV)
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,?who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
