Four Ways to Pray for the Orphanage
As most of you know, our beloved orphanage, is facing a crisis right now. In a mere five weeks, the leader must leave the children for the space of two months and she’s not sure who will care for the children in her absence. This is a serious crisis indeed but we must remember that God is good and great and sovereign. He cares for the children more than we ever will. He sees the end from the beginning and he’s already devised a plan to care for those he loves, not just by delivering them from these difficulties but by developing them in these difficulties.
One of the means the Lord uses to accomplish his will in the lives of his people is prayer. Therefore, we should join with her in praying incessantly and fervently, but we should also pray with faith, hope, expectation and peace because we know that God will work all things together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purposes (Romans 8:28).
With this in mind, here are four ways you can pray for the Orphanage. First, the leader has been praying for some time that the Lord would grant her a 21-day retreat from the ministry during which she can draw near to God and commune with him. This circumstance may be an odd answer to that prayer, and so join me in asking God to provide her with some time for simple communion with him while she’s away.
Second, pray that God will provide workers who love him, who live by faith, who love his Word and prayer, and who will love the children and lead them in the way that they should go. I will be playing this role during the second month of her absence (April 14-May 14) but we still need to pray that someone will come and play it during the first month.
Third, pray that the faith of the children will be strengthened through this trial. Pray that they will see the mighty hand of God at work. Pray that they will see God as their Father and protector and shield and hope. Who knows what the Lord will do with these precious souls in the future for the glory of his name. It may just be that he has custom designed this crisis to build faith in them at such a young age.
Finally, pray that God will glorify his name in northeast India. The darkness there is thick and ancient, but let us join with others in praying that God will break through it in our lifetimes. Pray especially for Pastor Paul and the people he serves.
