Family Week Preview

Mark your calendars! Family week will begin September 14th and end September 21st. The week will consist of two sermons related specifically to the idea of family, and one other component. Both Pastor Charlie and I are asking and encouraging each household in the church to meet with one or more other households of the church during the week. You may choose to invite someone over for dinner or invite yourself over to someone else’s home. You may want to go to an apple orchard, a sporting event, sing songs, have a time of worship, go to a park, etc. What you do and how it looks is completely up to you so long as you get together someway, somehow, somewhere, at sometime with someone during the week!

This week will hopefully serve a greater theological purpose in the life of our church. The conviction that is sinking deeper into the leadership of the church is that midweek gatherings and sharing life together on a deeper level is essential in the pursuit of holiness. Christianity is NOT a lone-ranger endeavor! God has made us to long for community and need it. We are the body of Christ and functioning as such requires more than simply gathering one time per week, but during the week as well where we can serve and sharpen one another. Hebrews 3:12-14 is a great passage that will help us all consider the indispensable nature of and severe need for deep fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

I am pleading with you all to please pursue this vision with us during family week if at all possible. I am praying that God will grant us grace to clear our schedules, to overcome awkward barriers, and pursue each other as brothers and sisters in the Lord whom we need desperately! I pray that this week will only be the beginning of a life-long pursuit of each other for the purpose of holiness, our joy in God, and the glory of Christ!

May God richly bless your interactions during the week, and may he do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we can imagine!

In Christ,
Pastor Kevin
